Cymbal started with a recording of an upside down Cymbal with paper clips placed on it. The piece also uses ambient recordings made out the window of my apartment in Oakland at the time, and in Tilden Park. Synthesize material is produced using Max/MSP. Like my earlier piece "Long Distance", I was thinking about how modes of travel affect our perception of time. Flying vs driving vs walking, and how our perception of (and perspective on) the world is so dramatically affected by the pace we move through it.
