Like my earlier pieces, Bell Box started with a recording of a gift given to me, which was a closed wooden box containing wind chime like bells. Using this as a jumping off point, the piece continues on the theme of travel and transportation, and contrasts very still, meditative periods with frantic movement, my thoughts being focused on a sense of existentialism, industry and technology. I was especially appreciative of the opportunity I had to record the Gamelan at Mills College for the piece.
