about

Mirrors is the result of a semester of study with Bob Snyder, the head of the sound department at the Art Institute of Chicago at the time. I was primarily focused on learning everything I could from him about FM synthesis as well as the Emu analog synthesizer the school had. The piece was performed in sections, onto an 8 track tape, playing the DX7II patched through the Emu to control panning and filtering, a combination Bob had suggested. The keyboard was set up to control LFOs and envelopes on the EMU while also triggering notes on the DX7.
