Places was the first piece of tape music I composed at Mills College. It includes recordings of the Buchla synthesizer, CSound synthesis as well as many other close mic'd objects such as percussion instruments, soda cans, a juggling ball, guitar, glass rubs and so on.

The software used to sequence and edit the material was called "Deck" from Macromedia, and early DAW. Looping and crossfading short sections of sounds to "stretch" or "freeze" them was a technique used throughout the piece. The title Places is meant to reflect the overall ambient and "place like" I felt it had, despite its narrative form.
