about

Sleepwalker was a 16 channel piece I wrote specifically for the San Francisco Tape Music Festival. The multichannel aspect was somewhat of a disappointment as the piece itself was diffuse and didn't dramatically benefit from the multi-channel aspects.

This piece was very influenced by the work I was doing at the time in my career as a video game audio director. The job had afforded me the amazing opportunity to work with Brian Eno on a game called Spore. Brian was using Logic to generate and process sound, and was generous in sharing how he worked. He was able to produce a huge amount of material on the spot using just his laptop and the laptop keyboard to generate notes, making the fact that he was nowhere near his own studio seem unimportant. Inspired by this as well as his ambient music, I wrote this piece in logic in a similar fashion.
