Tightrope is one of my earliest tape pieces, which I wrote while at the Art Institute of Chicago. I used an Emax II sampler, an Emu Proteus synthesizer and Studio Vision as the sequencer. It also includes synthesized sounds from software called Turbosynth which generated some of the tones at the end of the piece.

Tighrope is still one of my favorite pieces because it reminds me of how excited I was to be able to record and playback sound on a keyboard, as well as sequence things with precision, all of which were revelations to me at the time. Most of the sounds are samples made it the studio at the school using a wave drum, plastic brushes, tin foil and a percussion instrument I was given as a gift by a friend at the time. The ending of this piece was created more recently, as the original ending was lost many years ago.
